Travel Info Ive been to thailand, but i want some tips on living and costs out there, ive been told i was paying too much? Travel Tips Bangkok more expensive than Tokyo? That guy is a nutcase. If you live in the city around Sukhumvit you will surely pay more, but here are some realistic prices. I have a colleague that is moving to Thailand..not sure where in Thailand but the house she has got is cheap. Also food is very cheap out there. Have you contacted the relevant embassy? Don't let it worry you, when you go on holiday anywhere in the world you are paying too much money. I was with my Thai friend who when I wanted something from a market stall called out, "Thai Price", the vendor smiled (All Thais smile, wonderful people) and he reduced the cost. When you are a tourist expect to pay more, the prices are variable because there is no "expected cost/price" so a vendor might charge you $10 for something and a couple of minutes later a local only $5 for the same thing. It is about making profits, what you can do is pay one of the locals a tip like $20-50 depending on what information they give you and ask them to get you a place to stay and where to get good food for a decent price. They know the ins and outs and the prices and I don't think they will say no to a little extra money, this could save you a decent amount and make sure they speak English or things might get complicated. Good Luck, and enjoy yourself. Gary i told you they won't let you back there thers a tourist price in every country, but Thailand is still a cheap place to visit, great bargains in everything. So what i've you been told regarding paying to much??? |
