Can you use $US dollars in thailand? |
Travel Info title says it all Travel Tips The answer is "yes, in some places". But those places who would readily accept US$ will be doing so only because they will be making money thereby. In other words they will be converting the cost of whatever you purchase at a rate of exchange which is better (for them) than the prevailing bank rate. There are foreign exhange booths all over the major tourist areas in Thailand, at all of which you will receive a fair rate of exchange. (The worst rates being at the airport). Most hotels will also change US$ to Baht, but again the rate will not be so favourable to you. So there is absolutely no reason that you should try to pay for everything in US currency. unless you are too lazy to make the effort to change it into Baht, in which latter event you deserve all the poor conversion rates you get. Others dont know...search on the internet...i think u can change it.... I recommend you trade U.S. money for Thailand currency. Some places might accept U.S. dollars, but it would be better to have money that the country uses! You can use US dollars pretty much anywhere. I'm from the UK, and this is NOT a commercial for American currency. Fact, though. I'm talking about black market exchange here, incidentally... only in the currency exchange office i dont think so u have to got an airport or a post office and exchange your us money for thai currency the answer is no. only place that will take your dollars are for exchange. |
