Travel Info i'll be visiting Thailand for the 1st time. i'm Korean citizen. please let me know of clean, cheap hotel/motel/inn in bangkok. are they nice to different asians? i lived in the states most of my life. can i get by with english? where can i see some muay thai? chicken fight? i'm not much of a drinker so i'll want to experience the real Thailand. anyone in bangkok who can help? i will really appreciate it. Travel Tips dont just stay in bangkok. couple days here, couple days there. dont be a wussy. get drunk. get some cheap girls. most importantly, be nice. enjoy thailand. Others Maybe you;re asking too much with the good and cheap request. I suggest Asia Hotel which is on the sky train route. For your activities, just book through hotel it's much more convenient for first timers. Scuba diving is Thailand鈥檚 most popular water sport and the country boosts some of the most beautiful dive sites in the world 鈥?the water is clear, sea life plentiful, transport and accommodation readily available and instruction to a very high standard. Diving in Thailand is comparatively cheap, and once you have achieved your certification in Thailand, you can use it to go scuba-diving all over the world. ANDAMAN SEA : Dive sites are found off the coast of Phuket with prime spots such as Shark Point, Red Rock, Ko Yao, Ko Yai, and the twin islands of Ko Racha, extending to the Similan and Surin islands to the west, Krabi and Trang to the east. GULF OF THAILAND : Sites are around Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan, Ko Tao, Ko Nang Yuan, Mu Ko Ang Thong Marine National Park, and Ko Chang in Trat Province near the Combodian border. EAST COAST : On the east coast of the Gulf, Pattaya offers dive trips out to Ko Larn, Ko Sak, Ko Krok, Ko Rin, Ko Pai and Ko Marn Vichai. There are dozens of dive shops offering courses and tours to any level and in any language. what you can do/other eco-adventures: White Water Rafting Trekking Mountain Biking Canoeing & Kayaking Fishing Wind Surfing Rock Climbing Jet-Skiing Wakeboarding Walking Through History Nature Study Bird-Watching Butterfly-Watching As part of the year-end shopping celebrations, TAT, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, and members of the private sector representing hotels, department stores, shopping malls and other business interests around Bangkok鈥檚 famous Ratchaprasong Intersection have joined hands to make the area a colourful shopping street with bright, fresh and fun look decorations. Source(s): http://www.tourismthailand.org Hey man, I should get paid for this info: - if you're looking for REALLY CHEAP places, try Khao San Road. We're talking about backpackers here, so there are some "guest houses" that are as cheap as 80-100 baht a day. Expect no aircon (maybe a ceiling fan), public toilet and lotsa weirdos. On the other hand, Khao San Road is like a little world in itself. Every night is a carnival there - if you're willing to pay more, I recommend some of the smaller hotels on Sukhumvit Road. Try the 24 Inn right next to Sukhumvit 24 (nothing much to look at, but hey, who cares if you're gonna be out the whole day and only gonna be using the hotel for sleeping, riiight??) - Thai people are VERY NICE to foreigners in general. They are very friendly, warm and helpful. Those who deal with foreigners regularly can speak English, though not perfectly. But if you're gonna be in Bangkok, there should be no problems as road signs and subway/Skytrain stations are also written in English. Plus, the locals are sooo friendly, they'll be more than willing to help you. - if you wanna see muay thai, there are two places to go: Lumpini Stadium (Rama 4 Road) or Ratchadamnern Stadium (Ratchadamnern Road). The latter one is bigger, airconed and the site where top fighters compete. Seats closest to the ringside are 1,000 baht each (only for foreigners) - if you like cities, you should definitely check out Bangkok. It has everything: shopping, nightlife, art, music, etc. - by the way, if you're gonna be hanging around Sukhumvit, check out http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com... . This site has some very deep, LOCAL info about Sukhumvit Road Well, hope that helps~!! WELCOME TO THE LAND OF SMILES~~!! http://streetsmartsukhumvit.multiply.com... Trust me when I say this stuff. Thailand is a really really really really really really really, cool place, I went there a year ago, and had the time of my life. First thing is pack very lightly, im saying hand lugage only. 3 pairs of pants, three t shirts one long sleave shirt and shoes . leave the jeans, tracksuits, sweatpants, jacket. It get really hot there, boiling. Stop in Bangkok first, capital city. When you get outside get a taxi, just walk on to the street and call out a taxi, their are millions outside the airports and assigning a taxi to you from the airport is more expensive. Thailanders are very fluent in english, they'll understand you The taxi drivers know everything about the city so when you find one tell him what hotel you would like to stay in. When you arrive at a hotel, ask the people how much it costs to stay because these people are good at ripping you off. Check prices on everything. When you got a hotel, go out in to the streets and you will seen millions of street markets, this is where you buy your cheap clothes and stuff. You can buy a lacoste shirt for 2 dollars, and the best thing about those markets is the price is nogociable, you can tell them thats expensive and they will lower the price so you could probaly buy a lacoste t shirt for 50cents. When you walk around your hotel room, put tape on the bathroom door, if you are taller than 5 ft 8 then you'll probaly bump your head a few times but you ll get used to it after a few head aches. One thing you dont want to do is drink the water, its contaminated and can make you sick, dont even brush your teeth with it, only shower in it cause the hot water kills the germs. You can buy fresh spring water at local 7 11s. The toilets are have very weak pressure so dont flush toilet paper down the toilet or it will get blocked. theres a nifty hose that you clean your hole with and then you wipe and throw the paper in the bin. Things to see in Bangkok are the giant malls, like 20 diffwerent stories and aquariums and even theme parks in them. also see the culture so go see the temple where the monks stay, it is very beautiful, if you dont where it is ask the taxi man he knows or you can ride in a tat tat. Not safe though, you are exposed to the air pollution and they drive like idiots, I almsot died with my brother on one of those things. Also a great thing to do is take a boat ride on the bangkok river, but where a rain coat. they pump suridge into the river, as disgusting as it might seem, its pretty cool seeing parts of the city on boat then stop at a nearby snake park and see all the dangerous snakes of Asia and watch a great snake show, dont forget if you cant find these things just ask, they know. If you walking through the streets dont feed the pigeons, they ll say its free, but its not, its very expensive. another another great place to go thats everywhere across the country is Thai massage. especially in bangkok, you will never feel right until you go for one of those and you get what you pay for. If you want to experience the night life, there are millions of clubs and adult shows, sounds wacky but I bet you would be curios to see what its like to see a women shoot ping pong balls out her ******* Food, there are plenty of restaurants around just ask the taxi driver, and they ont only serve thai food, they even have steak. about the women, dont touch any of the asian women in thailand unless you know for sure that they are really women. Men dress up, get boob jobs and fake doos's and some look really hot, but look out for adams apple, big feet and acne, otherwise stick with other tourists. thats it for bangkok Other places to see are koh to, a small beautiful island with many coral reefs and dive schools, go on a scuba diving course, its really cool, sharks there dont attack people so you fine. dont go snorkling before your course because you ll probaly burst you ear drum, they dont teach diving safety, you 'll need to learn some boring theory before you can dive and do a few physical exercises in a pool, then a few dives and practice different things like compass reading and using a dive planner, then you right a test and when you finished you get a license to dive forever. the best beach is in phuket, same as bangkok except cleaner, not as warm, more she men and grat beaches. Other places I reccomend you go are pipi, Krabi and ko samui. look then up and see activities before you leave. one thing I dont reccomend you do is stop at all the little places, some are boring as hell and are wrecked from tsunami and lack of funds. Stick with 5 places. when your holiday is almost done buy a big bag for luggage and thats what you put your clothes in, either before you leave or as you about to leave. It might get irritating to carry luggage so stop in Bangkok and spend the rest off your (bart) which is their currency on clothes before you leave. Warning, dont take drugs, knives, nail cutter sets, razors and alchaholic drinks in hand luggage. for drugs they will hang you and for others you wont be able to board they plane, if you desire a knife or razor, take a bag for luggage. Best alchaholic drinks of Thailand tiger beer, Thai whisky and red bull the dollar trades at about 1 U.S dollar equals 400 bart so go out of control. I dont know all the places to see so lookup things to do at places you want to stop |
