Kanchanaburi. Free n Easy for 1 day trip? |
Travel Info Hi i really need BIG help here. am going bangkok with my boyfriend for 4 days and i dont want to just shop and eat and i heard about the beeeautiful Kanchanaburi. Okay questions are 1). Is the train ride frm Bangkok to Kanchanaburi safe? Hows the price like? 2). What time is the last train/bus back to bangkok from Kanchanaburi? 3). When i reach Kanchanaburi must i pay entrance fee or soemething like that to visit the places of interest? 4). How big is Kanchanaburi? Am i able to walk frm one place to another? I understand that there are trishaw rides and all.. that's about it as im not able to find information on the internet thats why i am asking for all your help.. I am not intending to stay there but would definetely wake up before the sun rises to travel to Kanchanaburi. Any additional info is very welcome!! THANK YOU SO MUCH Travel Tips 1) Why take the train? It is 2 hours on a bus at less than 100 baht each way 2) google search it. go to tourism authority of Thailand for more info. 3) Depending on what sort of places of interest - but generally there are entry fees involved. How much depends on what you want to get into. K'buri tourst info centre has all th einfo and map you need. 4) It is big enough to make walking not practical. JAETH war museum is walkable but then to get elsewhere from there is too long and hot. Tiger Temple is 陆 hour drive away - you are NOT going to walk there. Different war-related place of interests are also far apart that it is better to hire a song teaw for the day and get around as you wish. To go to Kanchanaburi - get up early and get a taxi to the southern bus terminal - over the river. There is a bus leaving regularly. It is a two hours trip. Once there - you can look around at your leisure. Bridge over River Kwae, war cemetery and JEATH war museum is good. Again- Tiger Temple is 陆 drive out of K'buri. Tiger Temple will be the most expensive part of the entry fees. And if you are planning to visit the tigers - DO NOT wear perfume, DO NOT smoke, ALWAYS and ALWAYS listen to instruction. This is THAILAND - forget public liability indurance. You get hurt - your problem! But you must return to K'buri town to catch the bus back to Bangkok by late afternoon (I think last bus is 7pm but don't risk leaving it until the last bus). I suggest catching the bus back at about 4pm would be a good idea. Because by the time you get back to BKK - it will take you a long time to get back over the river coz rush hour has started. Hope this helps. IF you need more info - email me. Been there twice. It can be done in one day - 7am - 7pm Others why not just take a tour. to Kanchanaburi. your hotel should have a travel agent that can arrange a tour of the River Kiwi and the war museum and other sites in the area. It's a day trip and your ride in comfort in a van. Yes I also recommence as the same instruction above, Even it saves, but take a tour by agency is more suitable and comfortable. Enjoy travel thailand ^_^ |
