You can import pretty much what you want but subject to import taxes,which can be extremely high.There are exceptions such as importing your personal effects when you have a settlement/retirement visa including your own motor vehicle

Are you working at WTO on AD/CVD? Besides narcotic and pornography and their related products, the only import restriction for me is my money!!! Oh I can remember one time I ordered custom-made golf clubs from Mizuno forging house in Atlanta Georgia. The clubs were delivered to me by UPS and it was very difficult for me to go and clear the custom duty myself because I don鈥檛 know the custom procedures. If the sender had used DHL, DHL would have gone through the custom procedure for me and charged me afterward. It took me two days before I could pay the proper import tax with all the right documentations.
Apart from duty clearance, the clubs were made in American specification that even they met all my requirements, they still far too heavy and stiff for me. It鈥檚 a good learning experience and great souvenir, but Mizuno forging house in Japan (now moved to China) makes better specifications golf clubs for Asians.
About the rate of taxation for golf clubs, it was only ten per cent import duty and seven per cent value added tax. Lots more for car, which I might like to import sometimes.
