Malaria? I'm in Thailand, Cambodia?

any experience of you, because i got a bitten from a mosquito near the border between Thailand and Cambodia. As i know there is Malaria around this places. I'l go to the hospital, but i like to know any experience, maybe i can do something else apart to go at hospital......

I haven't heard of people effect by Malaria for a long time. But, about 20 years ago, a friend of mine who worked in the UNHCR refugee camps along Thai/Cambodian border got it. He said doctor told him to drink clean water. Malaria can also be caught on by just drinking water. He started to drink only beer then. His excuse was that it contain certain amount of alcohol. I think there may still be around that area,

You could ask for a malaria shot but I lived in Thailand for 8 years, got bitten many times but never had malaria! Do you know the effects of malaria? If you don't have a helluva high fever then I wouldn't worry! Rub the bitten area with some alcohol and wear long sleeves, pants and socks!
