Is the Songkran festival still celebrated in Bangkok? If yes, will the chatuchak market still be opened.? |
Travel Info I will be visiting Khorat as well. Will there be Songkran celebrations there as well? Travel Tips Songkran Festival : Where in Bangkok Khao San Road, Banglumpoo, Sanam Luang, Suan Santichai Prakan, and Temples in Ratanakosin Island in Bangkok Chatuchak market still open. Others Songkran festival is celebrated all over the country...it's the happiest time in Thailand...Chatuchak will be opened. Ja Ja Wa Dee Ja! Of course! Songkran is their New Year Day! Definitely all the Thais all over the world will celebrate this day. So Bangkok is no exception. Korat as well. Good for you. Been there, done them. of course it's the thai new year, sawadee pee mai. as for JJ's it will be open. me Songkran is not a big event in Bangkok because a lot of residents go back to their home towns and villages to celebrate. Chatujak will be open as will nearly all shops but usually not a lot of festivity. Best place for Songkran is Chiang Mai which turns into a water fight mad house for a week. Pattaya is also fairly wet. Never anything malicious but lots of water. Do not take your mobile telephone with you or any electronics which are likely to be damaged by water. Khorat will celebrate but never been their during Songkran so don't know what it is like. |
