For this, you will have to check with the telcos there. No user will bother about the sim card version. It is more like use and change and if not happy, get a new one.
I don't thnk anyone knows. The Thai are not into statistics like Americans are. I once looked at the statistics from 2002. The information that I could read was very general and in large categories. You could not get statistics for specific say jobs or locations, cities yes, but, as large as Bangkok is you could not probably find info on how many live in each area. So, to ask how many use v.1 or v.2, who knows and why would you care. I real]ize I sound a bit callous. It's just that the sim cards are so disposable. In 2 1/2 years of visiting Thailand, I probably have had 6 phone numbers. I first used True/Orange and they would only allow a farang have a sim card good for 6 momths. So every other time I visited I was using a new card and new phone number. Now, I use DTAC and I am supposed to be able to use the SIM card indefinitely. Which is nice. I am using a phone I bought in Hong Kong in 2003. All I care about is if the battery is good, whether the reception on the phone is good, and whether the calls go through. And that I am not wasting a lot of baht when I use it.

Below I put the wesbsite of teh National Statistics office for Thailand. So, you can see what I mean. The government of Thailand is not run like a company. Detailed statistics would be hard to find.

Good luck
