Late check in at hotel?

I arrive at my hotel in Bangkok at 2a.m for 4 days.How is the daily hotel rate charged? Im I getting short changed on my first night there?Or does it all equal out the same?

your get charged for the full night no matter what time you arrive because they did hold the room for you. but hotels also let you stay past the check out time also if they have the vacancies at no charge. it depends on the hotel, they do try to satisfy the customer most of the time Source(s): me

It varies hotel to hotel. The only way to know for sure is to check with the hotel. The least you could have done is listed the specific hotel you will be staying at so someone could look it up for you.
Hotels usually will chrage you a full day for late check-in, even if you're coming in at 2am. It's because they hold the room for you starting from the usual check-in time.

Don't worry too much about it. At least you're assured of having a bed to sleep in when you get to Bangkok.

One word though. Be sure they know you're arriving that late. Otherwise they'll still charge you for the night and will gve the room to someone else anyway, thinking that you did not show up.

You will be charged the full rate, and don't expect the hotel to make it up to you, because they won't. Most hotels don't allow you to check in before 14:00 anymore and many 15:00, and many will charge a half-days rate if you do want to check-in early, and many will charge you a half-day rate if you ask for a late check out. If you stay for just one night, you won't even get 24 hrs. anymore. It's just like everything else these days, you get less and less for your money. The previous answer has good advice about letting the hotel know you will be arriving very late.
