How much would it cost a month for a one guy to live in thailand.?

Travel Info
I want to go to Thailand for one year and I would like to live in Pattaya or Bangkok. I am going to train in Muay thai.I wouldn't need anything to fancy just not a total dump, I am not that picky.

Travel Tips
you could live on 20,000 to 40,000 baht a month depending on your livestyle

Your money would go further in Pattaya, or rather just outside, anywhere in Chonburi. You should have no problems picking up a 1 room flat for 3000 a month. They are quite clean inside, as that is the Thai way, it's hard to keep places looking nice on the outside due to the climate. In BKK an apartment will set you back 10000TB+ a month depending on the area you want and how big. The further away from the high traffic areas you can get the better off you will be. In Bkk I've seen apts going for 100k+ at some of the nicer buildings.

Just did some poking around, here's a decent place to look for BBK rentals. http://www.kkbkk.com/?do=find&what=rent...

I'll keep poking but I haven't found any good sites for pattaya yet.

As a side note, either place is good for visa runs, about 200-250km to the border, just be mindful that the borders close quite early.
Hey Uncle - Yes, there are inexpensive yet totally livable places in Bkk too.. they might be off the skytrain line etc.. I have a friend who had a decent apartment for 4000 baht.. and he now has moved up to 6000 baht and has a 2 bedroom with a great view and an olympic size pool downstairs.. however, what I think will be most important to you is to be near the school where you are training. And, you will probably have to wait until you get here to find your place as the cheaper places don't do alot of advertising, just not in their budget... good luck - and there are very inexpensive guesthouses on Kao Sarn Road until you find your room...
Serviced apartment I live in Bangkok, 5-10 min. walk from Siriraj hospital and Chaophya River and by Royal barge dock/musuem cost me around 8 -11,000 bht/mo. depending on services you need. The room is 6 by 4 m. furnished with bathroom and very clean. As soon as you cross the bridge, you'll arrive grand palace, Khaosan Rd., Thammasart and Silpakorn Universities. The apartment is very selective for their guests as there're lot of doctors and staffs from Siriraj Hosp., Mahidol Univ. are staying. Also some exchange students from Europe and LA regularly stay here for 3, and 6 months every year to study at Thammasart Univ.

You can contact the place at Ruenindra Court, email: ruenindr@gmail.com. You can write and ask for more info.

Note: Rajdamneon Boxing Stadium is 10 min. by taxi (45 bht fare or 5 - 10 bht by bus.. if love to jog, then you can do ..~ 1km away) .. just cross the chao phya river and you'll see the stadium by Rajdamneon road. and opposite Army HQ. Sure, lot of gyms in close vicinity.
well man i just got back from there and you can get a 1 bedroom apt for about75-200 us dollars a month and the food is cheap you should also consider phucket.
I guess it depends on weather or not you're planing to spend much time with women.

You can learn thai boxing anywhere in Thailand and outside of the main tourist spots the cost of living is much cheaper.

My 2 bedroom bungalow, which is massive and has a little garden is just 3000b a month!
Rangsit Nakon Nayok Road between Klong(Canal)3 and Klong 4 is a Muay Thai training facility like something Jean Claude Damn would probably use. It is open air and totally bare bones. What is attractive about this one gym is that it is home to (2) of Thailands WBC boxing Champions and other former Thai Muay Champions. The owner himself is a former two time world champ even though he is old now. There is a Canadian (Dave) that trains one of the WBC boxing Champs and also does Muay Thai. Dave owns the Alina Resort in Koh Chang. In this area of Rangsit, you can rent a western style 3 bedroom, 3 bathroom townhouse, upstairs.downstairs for 5,000 baht per month, or a new room for 2,000 a month. This is away from the city and out in the fresh air along the canals. You can see the fighters running along the canals at all times of the morning and afternoon. This is nothing fancy but pure sweat and training. Rocky Balboa would be proud to train here. Fighters and owner are very friendly to all foreigners. I am sure if you want to really learn the sport, instead of some airconditioned jazzed up, pay us to come train gym, then this is the real thailand. The weights here are a metal bar with cement blocks if that gives you an accurate idea. You can see photos of the canals and some of the fighters on www.visualthailand.com (contact us if you want so more information, as this is not a school but I am sure you would get trained the best you can here) if you like this option.
