Bangkok, Pattaya & Koh Samui...? |
Travel Info We are planning a visit to Bangkok, Pattaya & Koh Samui in a couple of months. Anyone who can help with the following: 1. Refer good, clean well-located hotels with great service in the three places. 2. Places of attraction for a three-year old. 3. The best beach in Koh Samui. Travel Tips i love chiang mai in the north of thailand more Others good info at fodors.com talk forum btw, April is the hottest month of the year in Thailand. Suggest you visit www.hotels.com and check for what best suits your budget. In Bangkok, the best place to stay, in my experience, is the Hotel Tai-Pan located in the Sukhumvit area. The hotel is reasonably priced, includes free breakfast which is pretty good and conveniently located, close to the skytrain station, shopping malls, embassies etc. You will find traveling from here also very easy. In Pattaya, depends upon your budget once again...But I strongly recommend the Peace Resort. It consists of cottage-type rooms, is well maintained and clean and doesnt cost a fortune. Breakfast is usually free and good. This one is also close to shopping centres and other facilities. It should not cost you more than US $30 -35 per night, all inclusive, for two persons sharing. Koh Samui has an Amari resort, which is good. Honestly, I dont know any other places there. For a 3-year old plus adults, attractions in Bangkok are the Crocodile Farm located in the nearby town of Samutprakarn and the Rice Barge Cruise, which consists of a zoom in a long speed boat in the Chao Phraya river. This also includes the famous floating markets- depending upon the time and a return journey on board a replica of an old rice barge. Most of these tours can be booked at agents or their counters in the hotel itself. In Pattaya, the best attraction for a family is the Khao Kheow- or the Green Mountain. The park features an open zoo with the not-so-dangerous animals and birds around. They also have a night safari. Koh Samui is more for beach lovers and adults but if you do change your mind, visit Phuket. They have the wonderful Phantasyland show there, which consists of traditional Thai dances, dramas based on mythology, magic and elephant show...all under one roof. It's the best I've ever seen. Frequent traveler to Thailand ahhhaa....good hotels in bangkok the list goes on forever: Plaza Athenee, Sheraton Grande, Oriental, Westin, Eastin, Four Seasons, JW Marriott, The Davis... The Cozy Beach Hotel in Pattaya is good. the food is great, the rooms are nice, and its conveniently near the royal varuna yacht club. places of attraction. try the dusit zoo in bkk but really, i say pattaya will not beat phuket. if ur gonna go to a beach here in thailand, i say phuket trang or krabi theyr'e really nice, and besides the night life in pattaya.......... its just not good if you have a 3-year-old. (both for the kid and you; im taking thta if u havea 3 year old ur rather young so pattaya is NOT a good idea at night!!) yes, there is phantasea at phuket. i really recommend a beach on the coast of the andaman/indian sea i really cannot help with the places of attraction i'm afraid you'll have to find out yourself. OH in Bangkok go to The Emporim (shopping mall) nd go to Jamboree Land, theres some kiddy place there your three year old should like it....thats all i can do hope it helped some help http://www.bkkapt.com/ |
