Travel Info Why Thailand is so poor country ? Travel Tips I don't think they are poor , just their face look poor Others Thai is not poor. There are two classes of peoples in the world, the rich and the not rich.I have no monies, but I am not poor. I don't think Thailand ranks as a poor country. Its not a G7 country either - I guess its somewhere in the middle. If you want to see poverty, go over the border from Thailand and have a look at Cambodia. Its a different world. When 50 percent of the population is involved with Agriculture and is only producing 10 percent of the GNP. There is a disproportionate part of the income stream being earned by a small portion of the population. The problem is then compounded by prejudice, lack of education, graft and corruption. The government ONLY guarantees education up to the 6th grade. So, you have a uneducated population working the farms. Those who get an advanced education have to pay for and go out of the country for more quality. The Thai system of education is based on read and repeat. The idea of independent thought is not embraced. Therefore they have a brain drain since they all act the same, do what's best for the group, don't make waves, go the path of least resistance, etc. The buddhist way of life actually impinges on them getting ahead. Because no star is acknowledged in the business world because they made the others look bad. It is very sad. if you think poor in the monentary sense then it is a poorer country but rich in the people and quality of life and the people are real nice not just for the white man but for everyone in general. there are two classes of people in Thailand. the rich in Bangkok who are snobs and think that Bangkok is Thailand, then you have the rest of the country who work hard and pay high fees for loans and corruption to the Bangkok rich. The real people of Thailand even poor have a rich life which those in Bangkok will never understand. me |
