Fighting Mosquitoes in Thailand / Asia / any-o-where...?

Travel Info
In Thailand, you can avoid the heat, don鈥檛 get too pissed, stay away from the violent south, but how to keep these darn mozzies from keeping you out of your own garden and waking you up at night? Has anybody gone through the process of comparing products, methods, etc.? I have heard of carbon dioxide combined with an intake fan, and black lights. The cheaper units in the stores don鈥檛 look very effective.

Travel Tips
Try mosquito coils, if possible Japan made. Put them around your garden, bedrooms, etc. Mosquito coil is a kind of incense. When burning, it makes smoke to kill mosquitoes no harm to other animals including human being.

We don't have too much of a problem here and I am upcountry.. nor in bkk do I see many either - - where the heck are you? - I would guess that if you go into a good drug store they will have some mos repellant for your body... if you want a spray to get rid of them in the garden, you might try a Home Pro and do all the normal stuff like eliminate standing water etc.. man, nothing worse - - good luck - - I do have some good oils to put on after a bite but not available here in Thai..
why not take with you a mosquito spray available in drug stores. there are different types of it in which some of them you will only spray directly to your skin (that is not covered with your clothes) to get rid of the mosquitoes. at night, its better if you have mosquito net. i think its the best idea.
If you really want the little fellahs to give you a visit wear blue, they are attracted by the colour; if you dont, stand close to someone wearing blue.
You can go to 7-11 and buy one of those circular candle-type products that you light up. It worked for me.

Otherwise, I would go and check out Big C or Tesco and see what they offer.

They drove me nuts too!

Good Luck!!
Lived in Thailand for a few years.
I bought an electronic blue light. It is suppose to attract the mozzies to the light and then when they fly to the light the electronic coils zaps them. It hasn't zapped one mozzie yet, but they have bitten me dozens of time. My best weapon is the electronic swatter (looks like a tennis racquet). I am sure everyone has one in their home/apt. Don't know what else to recommend. There was one in the taxi, in Bumrungrad hospital and one in the office I go. They are all over and the government should really spray the city to help control the problem.
