Thailand in april(getting a tan)?

Travel Info
i'm going to thailand in a couple of weeks, i've heard it should be really hot and being a beach bum am happy about this, however recent weather reports have shown thunderstorms over the last week and look to continue. i'm going for 3 weeks, is there a chance i won't come home tanned? also what is thailand like in april, ive read mixed reviews. i will be going to bangkok, phuket, phi phi island and koh pangnon.

Travel Tips
very hot in april. Went this time last year, stayed in bangkok where it rained about but never dropped below 85 degrees and then ventured to phuket where it didnt rain although some nasty storms were about but never hit us. The temp were on average 95, i would say it would be impossible to go there without getting a tan. I got a tan in koh sumi, took all of 5 minutes in that sun

Have sun and use ALOT of suncream

My family lives in Bangkok. The hottest month in Thailand is April. Normally, the hottest day of the year is about Apr 27. using sunblock is a good idea if you dont wanna get tan. I always use about 30SPF in Bangkok; however, when I go to the south , I would recommend SPF50 (so ur skin wont be burned). The south of Thailand is very pretty. Have fun there!!!
i think your seeing these storms in the northeast not in the south and Bangkok. your come home looking like a lobster.

from one beach bum to another who lives for a few months every year in those areas and its still summer and hot you'll sure get a tan especially in koh pha ngan if your sleeping it off on the beach in the morning after the full moon party
If there are thunderstorms, they will be most likely brief and widely scattered, so, it will not be much of a factor.. the first answer is a nice cultural point. I think you are saying you want to be tanned, but the first respondent thinks you are afraid of getting tanned, - Thais don't like to be dark, so they oft avoid the sun...
I lived in Thailand for 6 years and have travelled all over. April is unbearably hot, the worst month to visit. Been to Koh Phangan over 20 times. very nice. Phuket kinda crappy and overtouristed. Phi-Phi ruined. You're about 20 years too late. Best bets: Similan or Surin island groups if they are open; not sure as they close during monsoon
