Can you still have the vaccinations to go to thailand when pregnant? |
Travel Info Can you still have the vaccinations to go to thailand when pregnant? Travel Tips Talk to your doctor. I spent time in Thailand and Cambodia whilst pregnant with no problems whatsoever. I wouldn't touch anti-malarials - especially not when pregnant.Talk to your doctor to put your mind at rest and decide what you're comfortable with.Unless you're not planning a jungle-trip in Thailand you don't need vaccinations. Just be careful with the water, don't eat seafood and avoid Restaurants which don't seem clean. Thailand only requires vaccinations from people entering from certain countries (mostly Africa - and mostly related to yellow fever and other tropical illnesses). Most travellers do not need any shots. I was in Bangkok last week, and found no health problems (I was there to do an audit of health and medical matters for one of my company's plants). No offense to a couple of your previous answers, but the Center for Disease Control (CDC), does recommend certain vaccinations for travel to Thailand and Southeast Asia, you can check this link: http://www.cdc.gov/travel/seasia.htm#vac... Thailand does not require vaccinations, but since you are pregnant, I'm sure you will probably want to take precautions to protect your baby and yourself. And as the Mouse stated, only a doctor can tell you what is safe and what is not. Have a safe trip. Hi, Gerald J's advice is on the safe side. However as other posters indicated, the cities are no problem. You only need precaution if you are heading to the countryside. The cities will be much like any city in South East Asia and seems like there is an ongoing debate about the effectiveness of the anti-malaria medicine, where it seems like it is not likely to offer you the protection against contracting malaria! Again as this debate is going on, the doctors are advising taking the medicine as better than nothing. Best thing is to consult your family doctor for advises for your trip. But really, the cities in Thailand are no health hazard zones. you do not need vaccinations just be carefull what you eat or drink reliable restaraunts, bottled water that is sealed properly dont eat of road side stalls or markets. you can eat fruit as long as you can peel it . just use common sense and you wont get sick |
