With new passport requirements, do I need a passport to visit Tijuana, Mexico? I'm going from San Diego, CA. |
Travel Info This is a bus trip where you go to San Diego for several hours. I was told only a birth certificate was required, however, I don't want my family to be stuck in Mexico. Travel Tips If you are driving into Tijuana....no you don't need a passport until 2008(well unless you aren't american...they usually don't ask for it, a drivers license is usually fine)....now if your flying....then you DO need it...Trust me...I travel there all the time so I know...you can also visit the homeland security page "As early as January 1, 2008, ALL persons, including U.S. citizens, traveling between the U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland Security" Source(s): http://travel.state.gov/travel/cbpmc/cbp...
