Travel Info Also, if I stay in a hotel near Pearson, how far is it from Toronto main city centre? Will it be covenient to go by bus or train rather than by hired car? Many thanks in advance for the reply. Others Pearson is not very convenient to downtown, I'm afraid. There are special buses to downtown from the airport, but I'm not sure what the airport hotels offer. It is possible that some of them have a bus shuttle service to downtown. You will have to ask the hotel when you book. Note that most hotels in downtown Toronto have a shuttle service to the airport, so you might want to consider staying downtown if you will be here for more than one day. I also think that there is a bus shuttle that will run from JC Munro to downtown Toronto. So it might be possible for you to take the shuttle from JC Munro, stay in downtown Toronto, then use the airport shuttle from your downtown hotel. These shuttles are not complimentary, so you would have to find out how much they cost. As to how far it is from JC Munro to Pearson, it's about 80 kms in distance; time wise, this trip can take you anything from 1 to 2+ hours depending on the time of day and the traffic. I hope you are coming in during an off-peak time, because that trip can be a nightmare. If you are planning to make that trip by hired car or taxi, I would check out flat rates and see if it may be worth paying extra to fly directly into Pearson, because that will be a very expensive drive. Safe journey. When you get out the baggage collections, there are signs indicating transport. YOu can take either, the TTC, which is the public transit bus for a few dollars to the Islington Subway station which is in the West suburbs of Toronto. You go west all the way to Yonge and then change and go South to Dundas. The Coach Station is a couple of blocks from there. Ask the ticket takers which way to exit. taxi or Limo. From the airport, fixed rates apply. careful with the metered guys. make sure to ask rate to downtown. LIMO is about the same cost, no meter and it's a lincoln continental car. DO NOT NOT NOT FOLLOW a guy who approaches you IN terminal asking you if you need a ride. those are gypsy cabs. they're not supposed to be in there. licences cabs have to stay on the curb. hotel shuttles. if you are staying at an airport hotel, they normally have similar hotels downtown and have free shuttles to their other hotels. windy with lots of stops. there are coaches directly from airport to other cities like Hamilton, Niagra or even Buffalo Airport. Ask the info counter. Cheers personal. |
