What do you think about Scarborough for a young family to immigrate to? |
Travel Info my husband and i are coming over to canada in july from scotland to look at areas where we can set up home, we have three children. what do you think about scarborough and ashawa we were thinking about those two areas. we will have around $200,000 to spend on a house. we would like a area that has plenty to do for kids, safe, and near good schools. my husband needs to find work also. i know there is so many places to speak about, but we would like an area where we can begin our canadian life and if we need to relocate, then will have no problems selling upand moving to an other area in toronto. thanks for any help you can give me. Travel Tips Oh Goodness Hunny I would just stay away from those areas period! My husband and I use to live in the North end of Oshawa and we moved our two kids out of there and into a whole different province! There were 3homicides with in a week just a block from where we lived! One of them was our friends that was the last straw for us and Scarborough is just as bad maybe even worse! There is a City Called Peterborough Which is about 45Min's from Toronto it's Very family there schools are Good I went to them myself as a kid one public school called King George and my High School Was Holy Cross Catholic Secondary School. But if you want to stay near Toronto Try Markham and Richmond Hill there both very nice classy neighbourhoods with good school and a some what mild crime rate. And Please don't listen to the Person About Oshawa and being close to GM ( General Motors LTD ) cause they don't pay as good as they did back in the day there Lay-off rate is so high is disgusting and lately the plant has been on and off for operation cause there hasn't been a large demand for work in OSHAWA! Whitby Ajax & Pickering is alright too but there school systems are excuse me SH!T. and Please just stay away from Brampton it's so bad I won't even Explain it to you! Umm I not sure of what other cities I can tell you about I've pretty well lived all over Ontario But my pick would be Peterborough for you it's extremely family great schools I can tell you all of them and with the money you have for a house it can put you in the Superb parts of Peterborough. The only area of Peterborough I would recommend to stay away from are the South end which is Crawford Drive and Monagan road south it's really the single mom/dad ghetto or where welfare sticks everyone but the crime rate is really low no homicides in years so I'd say you A Okay for that area and plus you or your husband can drive to Toronto and back for work or whatever cause your only 30-35 Min's from other big cities Cobourgh, Port Perry, Oshawa, Whitby, Ajax,Pickering Toronto and much more! Source(s): I hope all this info is helpfull in making your choice god bless you and your family and Goodluck Other Travel Tips Scarborough is a nice place. It has its bad spots but so does every place. Try and get something close to Lake Ontario. Peronally I would stay away from Scarborough, you won't find much there for 200K anyway. Oshawa is nice, so is whitby & Ajax. The GM plant is near there aswell. You could also go west to Milton or Burlington. I would like to let you know that maybe Scarborough isn't the best place to move to, nor is Oshawa. However there is an area in between. Ajax and Whitby are two really nice places with homes in that price range that would be a much better area to raise a family. If you need any specific info, please contact me. I would suggest Scarbrough as Oshawa is a samll town and bit away from the HAPPENING area. As u wrote to avoid the problems of reseling, Scarborough will be the best option as not far from down town why dont u think about north york? i know Few places near Lawrence E and DVP and near Eglintion & Laird (on north side) Don Mills and Green Path many Irish familes live here These areas r not Far from Scarborough as well |
