sure there is plenty of soccer there, I am from Indiana, but I went to a bunch of tournaments there and played some outstanding international competition, I can't remember the name of the tournaments, but the one had teams from all over the world playing there, it was pretty good(except the french canadian team we played, I believe a fight broke out in that one)
There is indeed soccer in Canada. The major difference being that in Canadian soccer, evertime the ball is touched the player making contact must say "eh, the ball, eh". Soccer in Canada is also under the auspices of the health care system, and thusly games must be scheduled aprroximately 17 years in advance.

there are plenty of soccer clubs in Toronto, my son played for a club called Toronto Eagles in Toronto.

but there are others.
Yes there is; and the European Scouts come here all the time- in fact my 9 year old son was scouted last year and now plays in (unfortunately) a European League. He is goes to school, and is giving accommodations and a salary. He loves it!

There are some great soccer camps and we play all year long, so you can sign him up for summer and winter soccer.
Canada's under-18s are ranked as some of the best players in the world.

Our biggest issue is the lack of competitive play at premiership equivalent levels. That is being rectified with the introduction of Toronto FC. A team which has already sold 14000 of it's 18000 seats available for ALL OF THEIR MATCHES THIS YEAR. Footie reigns supreme in Canada.

Do you know how much I paid to get a ticket to see David Beckham play for LA Galaxy in Toronto?

7 pound stirling. That wouldn't get you a meat pie at a Reading match. He's going to get to see loads of great players when he gets over here. It looks like Vancouver and Montreal will be getting a franchise shortly.

Also, if he paid attention during the last ManU game he'd have noticed that they've opened up a United camp in Toronto as of this year to take advantage of Canada's talented youth.

We're the most multicultural country in the world. Wait till he's on the pitch with Brazilian players, Mexican players, Canadian players, British players, Irish players, Indian players, Chinese players, Italian players, German players, etc etc...

And wait till your standing on the side of the pitch cheering him on. Every Dad is better than the coach =)

Be sure to enroll him in the winter indoor leagues, so he keeps his game up.

And on a side note. There are far more good looking girls in Canada than there are in England. People are much nicer here in general. School's are a bit tougher however. Grades count just as much as skill when it comes to scholarships.
