Is Markham part of the GTA?

Travel Tips
Yes, Markham is part of the GTA. The city of Markham is in the Region of York. Toronto at one time was itself part of York County. Metropolitan Toronto was born in 1953 thus carved out of York County. York then became a regional municipality with various villages of which Markham was one of them. Then Markham was the name used to take in the village of Markham and the other villages.

Metro is gone now, replaced by the Megacity as they call it, which means Metro is now called simply the City of Toronto.
