Moving to canada with my puppy! No home for my puppy??? |
Travel Info hi, i'll be moving to ,Toronto, canada soon and i have a 7months old puppy(maybe i'll be adding one more) it seems like i cant find any place for rent that allows me to have a pet! since this is gonna be my first time in toronto i need to rent a place online. anyone has any suggestion? any specific area that is common for pet lovers? i might be going to north york ps- i really dont want to put my puppy in a pet hotel(kennel), but maybe a couple of days would be ok if i have no choice! Travel Tips As long as you're not looking at shared accomodation, just don't say anything about your dog when you apply for the appartment. Any clause in a rental agreement that says pets are not allowed is void by law in Ontario. The only exception to this is if the pet is dangerous, causes allergic reactions or causes problems for other tenants or the landlord. Even if you signed a lease with a "no pets" clause, if the pet is not a problem for anybody they can not enforce it. You do not have to move or get rid of the pet unless the the Landlord and Tenant Board issues a written order to do so. You don't say what breed the dog is and that can make a difference. The online rental search engines should have an option to input "allow pets" so you can search specifically for places that do allow pets. You can join a yahoo group that matches the breed of your dog and ask them. Lots of Canadians are members of the various yahoo dog groups, and that's where you'll get your best information. |
