How long before a flight to the U.S.A. do I need to be at the airport in Toronto for? |
Travel Info I have heard 4 hrs, 3 hrs, and 2 hrs. I am going to Orlando on Sunday and the flight leaves at 6:30 a.m. so to be there 4 hrs before we need to be there at 2:30! I don't think the ticket counter would even be open then. Anyone fly to the states lately and know the right length of time? Travel Tips I think 4 hours is way too much, especially at that time of the morning. Although due to increased security I would recommend 2 to 2 1/2 at a minimum. Unfortunately these are the times we live in. Take care and happy travels, David Others My husband & I recently flew to Scotland from Toronto and were at the airport 3 hours prior to our flight. Security can take a while to get through at this airport, so that is why you gernerally need that much time. Remember, this investment of time is insurance that you will reach your flight ontime and that at that time in the morning, you may have no problem at all, but better to be safe than sorry. Remember you are on an international flight which requires deaper security. Hope you have a passport. I fly to and from Canada/USA. I'll tell you now that a 6:30am flight is pretty busy. You may have 20 or more planes leaving out at that same time with thousands of people checking-in. I'd arrive at the airport at 3am just to be safe. Remeber you'll have to go through US Customs and security and all the staff are cranky at that time of the morning. Its better to get through all that and be an hour early at your gate, than to be running for your plane as its departing the gate. Personal experience It used to be good to get there 2 hours before any international flight. These days with heightened security, you would be best to give yourself 3 hours before your flight leaves. |
