How dangerous is the Jane and Finch area of Toronto? |
Travel Info What are the main gangs in that area? Is it as bad as you hear? Travel Tips It's one of the least safe neighbourhoods in Toronto. It's not that you can't walk there during the day, however a lot of the cities crime takes place in that area. It's likely not a place you want to be by yourself at night. I have no idea what gangs are in the area though. Maybe someone else will have that info. Others It definitely has a reputation. Rule of thumb: if an apartment is charging under $1000 for a one-bedroom, you can be sure it's either in a bad area or disgusting - or possibly both. (Or it's in the middle of nowhere.) where there is poverty, and Jane and Finch has some so called low income hoods, there is crime not far away but the words of Hellen Keller are another point of view that I live by "Security is mostly a superstition. It does not exist in nature. Nor do the children of men as a whole experience it. Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing." it sucks unless you like crack and being raped and robbed I'd say, it's an 7 or 8 as a rating for a bad area. It definitely does have a reputation. I used to live at Jane and Steeles, and I couldn't find myself out at night safely. Thank God I only lived there for like 2--3 months. There aren't just gangs at Jane-Finch, there are gangs even worse in Scarborough, and small spots such as Rexdale, Jamestown, etc.. |
