Toronto Residents. Can you tell me about the Parkdale-High Park neighborhood? |
Travel Info Specifically, is it a good neighborhood? Stuff to do? What is walking distance? Trendy? Lounges? Bars? Travel Tips "Parkdale-High Park" is the name of an electoral district ... it's really two distinct neighbourhoods. Parkdale is known as an area with a lot of poverty and crime, but it is gentrifying rapidly and filled with artists etc. It's a nice area, but I'd stay away from the immediate area of the apartments on Jamison Ave. High Park is a beautiful, large park to the west of Toronto, and immediately west of Parkdale. There are lots of large, expensive houses on the east, west and north of it, plus a dozen or so huge apartments to the north of it. It's a very safe area with lots of good in-house rental apartments. Ideally, living near Roncessvalles (sp?) is best, as you get a nice strip of shops, plus the park, plus leafy streets ... and you're 10 minutes to the lake/beach. Others High Park has some of the most expensive housing in Toronto Parkdale is one of the most ghetto areas in Toronto - NOT a good area at ALL. |
