Is there anywhere in the GTA region of Ontario where I can go to see a clear dark sky with tonnes of stars? |
Travel Info I live in Mississauga, Ontario. I wanted to go out this summer with a few friends to have a night of stargazing. Any ideas? Hopefully it's not anywhere too far. A few hours driving is okay. There's light pollution everywhere though =\ Travel Tips Anywhere north of the city - you need to get away from the city lights/street lights. When I was younger, we had a cottage out near Peterborough, but on the lake, and the stars were amazing. Source(s): TMS Other Travel Tips you can probably spot stars in the town of markham or somewhere north of the gta go to Oven sound r Barrie St Jacobs too would be a nice place to see the star but yes anywhere north or south. Simcoe, Port Dover ect Actually, a few hours drive is more than enough to see stars. Any direction will be fine. Catch a boat into lake ontario and go just far enough that the city lights are over the horizon and boom - the stars turn on. The best site is the dark sky reserve in Muskoka: http://www.muskokaheritage.org/natural/t... |
