Any way WelCome to CANADA Others Quite simply - there are none. Rent in Toronto is absurdly high (the highest in all of Canada.) You would be far better off to relocate to one of the medium-sized cities in southern Ontario, such as London or Hamilton. The cost of rent is FAR more reasonable. You can definitely find low cost rental apartments in good neighbourhoods in Toronto. Some of these neighbourhoods are (you'll have to look on a map to get a feel for each area): - The Annex -- near Bloor Street between Spadina and Bathurst - High Park -- anywhere within 4-5 streets around the park, which you cannot miss on a map; it's in the west end - The Danforth -- anywhere within 3-4 streets north or south of Danforth Avenue, between Broadview and Pape. - Anywhere near Yonge Street north of Bloor (but not south of Bloor) ... Yonge & Davisville ... Yonge & Eglinton ... Avenue & Eglinton ... Yonge & St. Clair. Try www.viewit.ca. A nice 1 bedroom should be about $900 to $1100. In a basement you could pay $700 or $800. You may find a basement bachelor apartment (1 room with a seperate bathroom) for under $600 a month. It's best to familiarize yourself with a few good neighbourhoods and search in there. If you find a really cheap apartment and you're not sure of the neighbourhood, just ask a question here and people will tell you in 2 seconds if it's safe (Jane & Finch is troubled ... so is Don Mills south of Eglinton aka Thorncliffe ... and south of Gerrard street/west of River Street ... there are many others.) www.viewit.ca |
