I would like to know the cost of groceries and utilities in Toronto, canada?

Travel Tips
Depending on the apartment, if the utilities are included, or extra, hydro in an apartment is $50-80, telephone for land line is basic around $30, heat can range if the place has baseboard heaters, radiators or force air, this could be part of you hydro or extra say $30-50 a month during winter months, houses and condos would be the same but more due the size of the area serviced $120-150. And then there is cable TV, if you bundle all you services with Rogers or Bell you save, cell, internet and either cable digital TV or Bell Expressview, you save on doing it one by one, it runs $80-100 per month.

Grocerys are another thing, the discount or bargin stores like Price Chopper, Food Basics or No Frills, then the upper level places A&P, Dominion, Sobeys and Loblaws.

A couple can get by with $40-60 a week a family of 4 about $120-200 depending on the place or style of food you cook, plus there are all the ethnic areas, Chinatown(Spadina or East on Gerrard, North in Markham), Greek Village, Eastern European, Russian or Little India.

When I go shopping I naturally go to were I need things from but the select in the city is one of the best in Canada and North America, no matter what your looking for, it is here.

Others
The cost of groceries for 2 people, average with toiletries is around 130 CDN dollars per week. Best place to buy groceries is No Frills.

Utilities depends on if you own your home or you rent. The cost of a home telephone line is a basic 28 to 30 dollars per month. The cable and internet service together, is around 60 dollars per month. The hydro bill depends on what size home u own. Around 1,400 sq. ft. home will cost u around 120 dollars per month. The heating bill for the same size home is around the same price 120 per month.(Except in Jan and Feb. heating cost more)

If you rent, the heating and the electric cost are all included in the price of the rental unit. The only thing that is extra cost for a rental unit is your phone and ur cable and internet service.

Good Luck
The cost of groceries would all depend on where you shop, how you like to eat and how many mouths you are feeding. If you plan ahead by using the grocery store flyers you can save quite substantially. By seeing where the best deals are and comparison pricing, you can plan the upcoming week's menu around that. Generally speaking, the ethnic markets are a better place to buy fresh produce. Canned goods and staples will cost much less at stores like No Frills, Price Chopper or Food Basics than they will at Loblaws or Dominion. For meat, the flyers are the best bet to see what store has what meat featured. As far as utilities go, gas is set at whatever the current market rate is, so the cost can fluctuate. Electricity is priced by peak or non peak periods. For instance, if you use electricity during the non peak period, after 10 pm, you pay around $1.oo less per kilowatt hour than you would during peak period. Phone, cable, etc. depends on who your service provider is. They are all pretty competitive so it's best to check around.
