In the winter , what are there to see in Toronto ? Not touristic sites like CN tower, I mean really unique? |
Travel Info I want to enjoy Toronto this winter and I am planning to move to downtown ( Bay & college). What should be in my to do & to see list? Travel Tips If you're at Bay and College you'll have lots within walking distance. Chinatown, Kensington Market, the Distillery District (lots of cool little artists studios). Queen Street used to be Toronto's Haight-Ashbury, and it's still funky. Get out to see the Islands, there's a ferry service. You'll learn in a couple days where to go, then you can explore on your own and pick out your favourite spots. Check out the underground tunnel system, it's got everything you need. I lived in T.O. for a year and I was still finding new paths in there. Merry Christmas. Others You'll actually be able to SEE the city of Toronto since the summer smog will be gone! Check out concerts at Massey Hall and if you are into sports check out the Rafters (NBA) and the Maple Leafs (NHL). Go ice skating in front of City Hall in Nathan Phillips Square. After New York Toronto is the North American centre for performing arts. - go for a winter walk through High Park -- take the TTC (subway) to High Park subway station. - a "typical" thing to do is to rent skates at City Hall and ... well skate. that's about a 10 min walk from your new digs. - in March, seek out a maple syrup operation outside the city -- known as a "sugar shack" - go tobogganing off Broadview, south of Danforth (TTC to Broadview station ... walk south/downhill on Broadview) - visit "Winterlude" in Ottawa in February ... 400km away. - Check out Casa Loma - its a neat old castle and at Christmas time is is decorated quite nicely. http://www.casaloma.org/ |
