Does travelling from Canada to U.S. by car need an international driving permit? |
Travel Info For Christmas I am going to travel to U.S. by my car. My trip will start from Toronto, Canada and my destination is Maryland, U.S. I appreciate if anyone could provide me some advice or links regarding the regulations on driving licence and insurance while in U.S. Travel Tips No you don't. Your Canadian drivers licence and vehicle's registration are valid in the US for a visit of at least 90 days, if not more. Your insurance will cover you as well without any extra documentation required.your canada driving license and insurance will work as well here as in canada. I have driven in both states as a commerical driver No just a drivers license will do. and a passport will help. But not so important. Have fun here !! Merry Xmas!! I am sure it doesn't but you could contact the Maryland D.O.T. and they can tell you for sure. No, you don't need an IDP. You do not need an International Driver's Licence. Your Onario Driver's Licence is good enough. However, keep the car ownership/registration documents handy. Most of all make sure that you have your personal IDs (The Driver's Licence or Citizenship Certificate or Passport). I hear that in the near future you may have to have a Passport to go to US but it is not finalized yet. |
