How is the English school Omnicom in Toronto? |
Travel Info I will spend a month studying English at Omnicon (www.omnicom.com) and I would like to know if this is a good school. Thanks Travel Tips I cannot give any opinion about Omnicom Toronto, but i will give some feedback about Omnicom Calgary - I met excellent teachers there like Jaimie Atkins, Liz Likely, Leigh Ann and Chandra --- a good teacher is important. --- Now, about the courses - the english courses do start almost every week (they say) but what you will end up doing is joining an already started level/class (depending on the date you decide to join) and studying the corresponding lesson acording to the week in which you joined the class. (a full level/book takes 12 weeks to complete) - so it's not strange to start with chapter 5 upto to 12 and then Chapter 1,2,3,4 before being eligible to move up a level. --- Dificult to know which topics you will learn during the month. --- If you can enroll a university course + Omnicom, i suggest to do so - Omnicom puts more attention on grammar than on speaking or listening. In my case, i took the TOEFL @ Sylvan Institute while also attending Omnicom and getting the TOELF was more important to me than just getting a diploma that states you attended classes for a given number of weeks and only that. --- Now, you didn't include what your level is as of now, Omnicom is not an academy for beginers or learning english from zero, and a single month worth of classes, i guess, is just not enough even if attending their called 'advanced'+'conversation' course. They provide 1on1 classes on demand, though. Ask for info. --- You can also ask for private classes by talking directly to the teacher you think teaches the best. ** i met some brazilians at Omnicom Calgary and i can say you learn a lot after school when hanging out with locals and the guys you met @ omnicom. Source(s): Omnicom Calgary Other Travel Tips I have honestly never heard of this school before. Where did you find information originally to enrol there? This doesn't mean that the school isn't good but I am always concerned when I hear of language students paying lots of money for a school that doesn't have an established reputation. Good luck with your studies. I've never heard of this school, but I'm sure it is fine. |
