Dui and canadian border?

Travel Info
i want to cross the us/candian boarder. I have misdeamer drunk driving. Can i get across?

Travel Tips
Any kind of criminal past you can be stopped at the border. Contrary to what has been said, DUI is MORE strict at the border coming to Canada than the other way. We have a lot of American tourists here, and one man had a DUI over 10 years ago and was refused entry.

You can apply to have it pardoned. Here is the link to do what you have to ensure you dont get to the border and get turned away.

(they are getting very sticky at borders since 9/11 and can check your past with your drivers license and passport) Source(s): http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/inadm...

Other Travel Tips
Are you trying to say that you have a suspended license and you plan to drive yourself across the border? Not sure about that. Especially since they request proof of id and when you have a dui, you either get a temporary state id or a piece of paper listing your driving privileges. Now, if you are going to be riding with someone else, as long as you can provide id, I don't see much problem.
depends on which way you are going... into the US tends to check a lot closer than into Canada. Either side can deny you access, Canada requires a pardon from the Queen if you are refused entry I'm not sure if there is anything you can do if you are refused on the US side.
I dont the 100% legal answer to the question, but I can tell you from life experience that I know 3 people that have had DUI's and have crossed the border( within the last 2 years) without any kind of problem at all.

I dont think they really care all that much about that.Accoring to MADD, 22% of American over the age of 21 have had DUI's in their. They are not going to stop all of them.
Does a misdemeanor drunk driving appear on a criminal record?
Then, don't go...

I was in a transport van with 8 other passengers and the Cdn.Customs blocked entry to a retired US Marine (65 yrs.old)
who had beat up his brother-in-law twice when he was 20. He beat him because he had beat up his wife (the Marine's sister).
