Travel Info How is Toronto? Is it like any other American city..NY, Boston, Chicago, etc.? Travel Tips First, let me confess I have not yet been to Toronto ... but I have been to a number of other large Canadian Cities, and most of the large cities in the U.S. and I live in Vancouver, Canada at the moment. I also have done a great deal of research on Canada in the past few years. So, here is some general information about Canadian cities compared to U.S. Cities, keeping in mind that I have not personally visited Toronto. 1) most people say that Toronto has a more European flavour than U.S. Cities do. 2) generally speaking, Canadian Cities are cleaner, have fewer true slum areas, 3) Canada is a very multi-cultural country, and this is amplified in the large cities. With the exception of NYC, Canadian cities are far more diverse than American cities are. 4) While there tends to be less extremes of rich and poor, you will still find the homeless and drug areas in Toronto. Others more trees Toronto is in Canada. Although there are similarities between Toronto and some American cities, such as shopping, restaurants, and clubs, there are also many differences, mainly which centre on the culture (varieties) that you will find in T.O. toronto is a CANADAIN city and is unlike any city south of the border Just let me say that unlike many large American cities Toronto is clean and safe and the downtown part of the city is alive from residential to business, underground malls, major league ball park, and just a ten minute ferry ride from downtown is Toronto Islands and that is just one humongous park with kiddies amusement area and beaches (including a clothing optional beach) also one island has an commercial airport. Neighbourhoods are multicultural as is the rest of the country. More good restaurants than you could eat in in a lifetime and about as many NOT so good eateries. It is a big city with a fairly good public transit system and lots of things to do and see. Oh, and the people are very friendly and welcoming. Try; toronto.com for a little more insight. Nope. Just as NY, Boston and Chicago each have their own distinctive characteristics, so does Toronto. But it does relate to large American cities in the range of activities offered and the amenities and facilities available. I live in the Illinois and have visited Toronto a few times let me say that I love it. The first time I sent there my now husband put me on the subway by myself. Needless to say I was scared but the people were very friendly and helpful. Toronto has so many things to offer. Anything tour want you could find there and it never seems to really sleep. I remember it being around 2am and it was fez zing cold but yet people were playing hockey and vender's were selling hot dogs and sausages. I have visited Montreal too and I must say to me the people of Toronto were so much nicer. |
