I posted a packaged to an address in toronto but forgot to put ontario on it and its being sent back to me.? |
Travel Info Is this fair or is it just me or is it silly? Travel Tips No - It's silly. The postal code is enough to narrow it down to a radius of a few hundred metres (or less). That combined with the fact that it says Canada should have made it very apparent to any postal worker that you were looking for Toronto Ontario. BTW who is sending it back the US Postal Service or Canada Post? Either way it's silly but I'm curious. Others Was this mailed in the US or Canada. Did it have the country? Toronto(United States of America,Kansas), place, current population: 276 Toronto(United States of America,Ohio), place, current population: 5 334 Toronto(United States of America,Iowa), place, current population: 132 Toronto(Canada,Ontario), place, current population: 4 726 194 Toronto(United States of America,South Dakota), place, current population: 178 Yes its fair, there are so many places where thesame name of a town appears in various states, provinces etc, that the post office has to be careful, otherwise a package for Vancouver Washington could end up in Vancouver Bc Canada. or a pkg for portland maine could end up in portland oregon. Does it have a big sticker on it saying it needs full address? If so, it is designed to peel it off, correct it and drop it back in the mail. Oh - that is how Canadian mail works. But looks like you sent it from the UK. Yes then, it's a minor error that they could have figured out - Toronto, Canada. As long as you had the address in there and not just the street. By what you've indicated in your answer....you didn't mark the street number. Maybe that's why it's coming back? McGowan Road is a long road.....if it really is coming back just because you didn't put Ontario on it...............That's silly! You did not put a house/building number on it. Many buildings in Toronto house lots of business tenants. I rarely know postal carriers to go into office towers to deliver. They drop it off in one mailroom. I personally work downtown where 5 office towers (30+ floors) all have the same postal code. The package got to Ontario I am sure but no one knew who to give it to. Addition: Does she live in an apartment? This is my last question. If the apartment (unit number) was on it...then I think you are right. I would complain to Canada Post because a postal code is supposed to "speed up" the service. No, it will make it there. If you have the postal code clearly labelled it will get to Toronto, Ontario. In the post office they simply scan the postal code and send things off that way. |
