What documentation is needed to travel to Canada? |
Travel Info Any diferent for USA a legal resident? Travel Tips Documentation needed to enter Canada is based on your country of citizenship, and not your country of residence - so even if you've been living in the US for 20 years, you'll still need to go by the rules for your old country if you're not yet a US citizen. If you are a US citizen, all you need is proof of your citizenship - a birth certificate, citizenship card, or passport will do; if you're flying, a passport is always the best option though. Also keep in mind that while getting into Canada required minimal documentation, getting BACK is another matter, due to recent US laws. If you're flying, you'll absolutely need a passport to re-enter, and even if driving, you may start needing a passport as recently as next year. If you're not a US citizen, you will need your passport regardless and, depending on the country of your citizenship, you may need to apply in advance for a visa.
