Will my cell phone work in Trinidad and Tobago? |
Travel Info I live in Atlanta and have a Cingular/At&T phone. I'll be traveling to T&T in June and need to know if the phone will work. If not, what is my best option on the islands? Travel Tips OK. Everybody here it is. Your phone will work but you have to call Cingular/AT&T and pay an extra $5 US a month for global roaming with your current Cingular/At&T configuration. Check out www.cingular.com for more details. When you land in Trinidad you will get a greeting from Digicel. Now check this out if you turn off your phone and turn it back on it will say TSTT. Trust me on this one do not turn the phone off and keep Digicel it works everywhere. Even on Maracus beach. So you will have your service, and pay roaming charges, or you can get a prepaid phone in Trinidad for under $100 TT and use that. It may work out cheaper. Now remember phone is like jewelry in Trinidad so if you want to be styling then pay a few hundred US dollars for a quad band phone and take it to Trini. I have Cingular and used it many times in Trini with different Cingular phones. NO problem. Trust me on this one. Others It doeasnt depend on the service but on the phone. You definitely need a TRIAL BAND. Check if you phone is Trial Band. I had the same problem with europe. First make sure your phone is a tri-band phone. You can either keep your home SIM card in it and be heavily charged by Cingular for calls made and received while you are in T & T OR you can get your phone unlocked and use a local SIM card while you are in T & T. When you return to US, your phone is unlocked already so you just re-insert your regular SIM card It won''t work. I tried to use mine and it didn't. Your best bet is to get a digicel card, they sell them in the airport, depending on the time your flight arrives. trinisoccer gots the good answer on this one wish i woulda asked you last year! sprint told me i would be able to have service & it nah work! my daughter had a tracfone & when she turned it on down there it said welcome to t&t & digicel. . wondered how that happened |
