Trini Children have it good today? |
Travel Info I looking at this ad for Kool-aid singles. They show how you pour a pack in a small bottle of water and shake it and wham you have a drink. Me aint know bout all yuh but I remember having to take that same pack pour it in a Large jar of water and is brown suger like rain, you stir it and then take another jar of same size cover the top with a handkerchef and pour the now juice in it to get out the suger dreeges... Tell me something that make you wonder about how good them children today have it.. Travel Tips My biggest gripe with children today, mine included, is those ridiculous words...."I'm borrrrrred!" Bored?? What is that? Tell me posse, as children were you EVER bored?? These children have TV, VCR, DVD, computers, video games and still they're always bored. They have no clue what real fun is. I could make a whole day's fun out of a piece of twine, a piece ah cokeyea and some kite paper! I used to watch batchack racing on piece ah leaf down the canal. I used to pelt mango. I remember, me, my sister and my cousins make a swing from a old plastic basin and some twine and hang it from the guava tree. Granted it only swing once before de twine buss whey and meh sister buss she tail but say wha? It was FUN!! That same day we was all climbing on said guava tree and when it time to come in for lunch, meh cousin jump down and she dress get tie up in a branch and the whole of Circular Rd, Sando get to see her unmentionables. That was FUN!! We didn't have all these electronic things to entertain us. We had to make our fun. Our imaginations and nature were our toys and I cyah speak fuh allyuh but I had a BOSS childhood. Now besides all of that, even if on the rare occasion you were bored, yuh eh mad tell yuh mother that because sure as yuh name is yuh own, yuh know she finding something fuh yuh to do! lol Others i does still make juice like that, however, today's parents have the money to buy dem small pack ah kool-aid. that probably explains why children nowadays dont know how to make a good tasting mug of juice. Of course the Kool-aid Singles eleminates d chile using all your flavourade and brown sugar or granulated sugar to make one small jar of juice and when they done, the juice sooo sweet and strong you could pour the same amount of water in the container again and the juice still wont get 'unsweet'. some people does still make it kool-aid juices.. actually my aunt still makes.... and i think she makes suck-ah-bag with it. there's nothin like a cold glass of kool-aid on a very hot day! Anyway..... the thing that i wonder about and how good them children have it good today is jam.... guva jam. We used to make jam with we our two hands and now them childrean does buy it in the shop... and what about rice cake, an cheese and oil...... we used to make all of that but now them factory does make it for the children.,..... children these days real lucky.......boy.....way!! Yuh think is only Kool aid dey eh know about? Dem children have it pass good these days. Remember long time yuh go get ah long piece ah bull grass and make ah skipping rope with dat? Now no skipping rope dey eh skipping. Remember when yuh had one pair ah shoes? Yuh wearing red, blue, green and any colour ah the rainbow , yuh have ah pink shoes, dat is what yuh have to wear. Now dem children every outfit is ah different shoes to match . How about this atrocity called time out? All I know is my back side getting cut - not no "go to the corner until you understand that what you've done is wrong." Steups.. I could not beleive it when I went home and a friend sent her child to her room instead of outside to pick the whip herself. I know I saw a grin in that child face. these days children have TVs and DVDs in their bedroom - In my day there was a living room/TV room and we looked at Rikki Tikki as a family - now is every man to himself i agree with you but you can't say trini children, because that is an American ting, and most trini won't adapt to that cuz it either they make a jug for the 10+ persons living in the house or they will make orange/ grapefruit juice. i do remember straining d juice wit a cloth, sorry not handkerchief. an i guess trini children will also find a dollar and buy a dollar juice. These children today happy yes! Dem eh no nothing about fun and play unless it have a screen attached to it! Yuh send dem outside to play and dey face long, long, long. Remember how we used to count down days for "August" holidays, so we could go outside? We was lucky if we had a bicycle to share round de neighborhood. We had we Sesame Street and nothing else. No video, no DVD, no cable and we were happy. We didn't have, but we didn't know we didn't have. Every day we went looking for mischief...and judging by the amount of cut tail I get...we find it! I actually feel sorry for this decadent generation we are raising. They really missing out. |
