Being Environmentally Conscious in T&T? |
Travel Info Since the environment is such a big issue, and coming off an extreamely dry Dry season and heading into a potentially very active Hurricane season, what can we do in T&T to save the environment. I work in the newsroom at C headquarters, so we've established a recycling bin for the tons of paper we use everyday...still trying to find someone who recyccles newspapers, because the amount that passes thought our department is scary. But if I wanted to do more at home, what would you suggest? Travel Tips Nikki Gurl!!!!! Why yuh so? All yuh remember in the 80's they had a school campaign using a character name Charlie? Chralie still in my mind and when I tempted to litter here he come and is a bin I finding. Well I think we have to creep before we crawl. We need to educate. The TV, The Radio, billboards, and newspapers need to promote the issue. From that discussion will begin and general education. But for now (all yuh like how I use a conjunction to start mah sentence) continue doing what yuh doing and we go get dey. Much love. I happy when I hear people serious about t'ing like this. Others Congrats on taking a serious issue gyul! I think things will start to change for the better as public awareness is heightened. Keep up the good work! Trinisoccer, you like ting eh boy? Charlie? Ah nearly dead when I read dat. Allyuh remember some calypsonian singing for a commercial for dat? Allyuh doh throw de rubbish dey, mamayo! Drive Charlie away! Madam doh throw yuh rubbish dey, oh Lad! Drive Charlie away! Now that will be in meh mind for the rest of de blame day! :) Nikki first great job in establishing recycling bins....now ofcourse we can cut down on the amount of paper we use..encourage people to use their computers...read reports, view photos, etc. on acrobat......As far as home.....i dont know if u buy Klim in the metal container but believe me i do.......i use the empty containers to store rice, flour, pasta, etc. I'm sure u do this already...but if you get paperbags from the grocery store save and reuse them at some other time..they do come in handy....or you can avoid the paperbags on a whole by just using a market bag.....My grandmom used to do this back in the day.....a heavy durable, plastic, or vinyl bag...... BTW...i believe TRinidad was always conserving way before the rest of the world....i don't think they even realized it..... Girl, these people cutting down too many trees. They are cutting these trees to plant pineapples. It is scary passing and seeing no trees for miles. I always wonder what going to happen when a hurricane reach here. Other than that, I think trinis know how to recycle. We not throwing away anything, not the ketchup bottle (for water), newspaper ( to wrap things in), paperbags , paint pans ( to plant some flowers in it) |
