Aye allyuh remember all d stories yuh parents used 2 tell yuh about Douen & LaDiablesse & Soucoyant & ting..? I don't know if I spell it right.. When I was young, I was realll mischevious & miserable so meh grandpa used to tell me stories about Douen & ting and how if I doh behave dey woulda come 4 me.. needless to say.. I straighten up one time.. but anybody have any stories? Yuh eva meet one? Trini soccer..how about u? yuh eva meet a LaDiabless?

I remember hearin dis story about dis girl who died on d highway ..( I can't remember d name of d highway..I think is Hochoy.. dat stretch of highway from POS to sando).. dey say dat ppl who drivin dey at nite and early in d morn used to see her in d middle of d road & crash.. anybody hear dat?

Travel Tips

Now allyuh go say ah lie, but this is the truth. When I was about thirteen or so my younger sister and I were alone in the house at night. Our parents were at some fete somewhere....and bam! current gone.

No big deal, that was Trinidad in the 70's fuh yuh.

Anyway, lil sis was dey freakin out because she scared and I (the mature one) steupsing down de place and telling she behave sheself.

I went out in the gallery to gaze out and she start to cry, so I closed the door and open a window to look out.

The neighbours had a big tree in the their yard. In the tree there appeared to be several large lights, like candles. The lights were floating above the branches. At first I thought they were fireflies or something.
I say " Self, dem is some HUGE fireflies yes!" Then they started to jump from branch to branch on the tree. Hear nah, when I realized what I THOUGHT I was seeing, ah slam de window shut and start to bawl.
My sister who was on de way to calming down by that time take one look at me and start to bawl fuh she mudder.
When I realized how badly she was frightened, I started to pray. We sat there in the dark and prayed and sang some hymns. I cannot be 100% percent sure if I saw a Soucoyant or not, but I know I was damn scared that night allyuh. And of course, as soon as Mommy and Daddy reach, current come back.

firstly when you hear people calling your name your not suppose to answer yes that's one reason your parents tell yuh to answer yess mummy or whoever but not just yes because you never know who or what calling yuh, 2ndly wait to hear your name call twice before answering.
with regards to ever seeing a douen or anything of the sort i think EVERYBODY KNOW SOMEBODY WHO KNOW SOMEBODY WHO SEE ONE A DEM and yes i'm one of those people. you ever hear bout d man dat does get tall tall 'til he two foot on either side of d road, well i cyar recall he name but me dad say he see him and he went back and tell me grandmere who went to d man and tell him how not to frighten she children again. ...true story or make up..well i wasnt dere eh but he tell it with such conviction that i'll leave it up to you to decide.

though i remeber this one time that me mama left me home alone and night came and i hearing like somebody walking upstairs but nobody home man i ran out d house and lock d door on my way out (so i couldnt get back in or rather maybe waht was in couldnt get out but somehow tat made sense at the time) so i waited outside with my doggie until my mom reach home.
