I am going to Trinidad on the 22nd. Any advise on things I must do/see/ eat/ visit?

Travel Info
Also If any one can refer a Beach near Port of Spain, I want to spend a few days under the sun...

Travel Tips
Firsly, there are no good beaches near Port of Spain..try Maracas Beach on the northern side of the island, it's very popular. You should eat : doubles, roti, pelau, callalloo, shark and bake at maracas....all very tasty! u can also try other creolae and indian dishes...i just listed the major ones. there are also shops near maracas or at maracas beach that sell local candy and preservatives...those are really god too. u should see Tobago(there is a daily ferry),the botanical gardens, mount st benedict is also nice, the pitch lake(if u can get there), san fernando hill and generally tour Port-of Spain (shops on Frederick Street, museum, savannah etc).
do go to a local play..u might find it interesting...unfortunately Carnival is over which is the main time for steelbands when they practise but u may be able to hear one depending. do enjoy ur stay:) (that's very important).
To answer another of the answerers,Trinidad and Tobago is not crime ridden, it is just necessary to take the same precautions that any reasonable person would take in the US, UK, Europe etc. just because we are in the Caribbean does not mean u can leave ur doors open, walk around flashing jewellery or money, walk by urself at 12 in the night etc.

Others
i wouldnt advise any beaches near port of spain. the good ones are on the northern and eastern side of trinidad...

the western side of trinidad is far too industrialised for the water to be considered clean...

but i guess u'd want to listen to trinidadian music
eat trinidadian food (doubles, roti and curry, pelau [hope you can handle spicy food])
visit our beaches and our historic sites
visit our natures sites (asa wright, caroni bird sanctuary, the wild fowl trust, etc)

To do - listen to a live steel band
To see - before you visit check out websites like this one. http://www.visittnt.com/ It's the website of the Tourism Development Company. Also just google Trinidad and you'll get all kinds of info.
To eat - depends on how adventurous you are. Try roti, coconut water drunk fresh from the coconut, pelau, callaloo.
To visit - if you can get to Tobago do visit The Nylon Pool and Buccoo Reef. The reef is georgeous and the Nylon Pool is a shallow plateau way out away from land where you can stand, swim in the middle of the ocean! Hope this helps!
YES YOU SHOULD OF GONE TO SEE CARNIVAL AND THERE ARE BEAUTIFUL LAKES RIVERS TO SWIM AND BATH IN TRINIDAD IS THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ME
Hate to "rain on the parade" of the above poster but Trinidad is crime laden. Not my idea of "The Best". Just look at what happened to Sean Luke last weekend.

Be careful if you visit there.
