Tobago.. is it nice there?

Travel Info
and what about eating out is that expensive....as I've heard it is? I might be going there in October to Scarborough.. but I don't know anything about the island aside from the fact it seems to charge a bomb for things!

Travel Tips
Tobago is the only island in the the Caribbean that still has the kept the natural beauty. You will meet some on the friendlist people you've ever come across. There's also lots to do such as visit the Nylon Pool and the Buccoo Reef for snorkelling (TT$50 per person). , scuba diving, watersports at Pigeon Point, nature trails in the country side, bird watching or just have a lazy day at the beach. A must is the "Sunday School Lime" every Sunday night in Buccoo. Golden Star for the talent competition and party on Wednesday nights. If you are gonna visit in October, we have our "October Fest" at the beginning of the month, this consists of "J'ouvert" (which is old mas') in Plymouth and Carnival in Scarborough. The beaches are fairly close by and the only place that has an entrance fee is Pigeon Point Beach. If you are planning to stay in the Crown Point are (which is the most centralised spot), it's near the airport, Store Bay beach where you can purchase Tobago's crab & dumplings and other local dishes. Crown Point area is also close to alot of the shops, supermarkets, rum shops etc.
The exchange rate for the USD is approx.1USD = 6.50 TT Dollars. The Sterling can be exchanged at almost 1 Sterling = 11.50 TT Dollars.
It all depends on where you shop, you may have to pay high prices but there are some vendors who will negotiate with you.
Eating out is fairly expensive as well as inexpensive. Obviously, if you have a meal at the Hilton you are going to pay an arm and a leg.
I often eat out at a friend's restaurant in Crown Point called "Cafe Iguana" and his prices are very reasonable. You have the choice of International as well as Caribbean dishes on the menu. There are also some other inexpensive restaurants on the island.

I do hope that you decide to visit and prove some people wrong. You will not want to leave. Source(s): Born and raised in Trinidad, presently work and live in Tobago over 9 years.

ITS FULL OF *******
My hubby us actually from there.I am from its sister island Trinidad.

It is nice there and according to what your currency exchange rate is some things may appear to be very expensive but dollar for dollar it may cost just as much if you bought the item in your own country.

I will suggest getting to know someone who knows the island because like any country where there are tourist attractions you will find touts who will make you spend your money because you're a tourist.

If you are going on tour with travel reps stick to them. But altogether try and enjoy your holiday.

Loads of sun,sea and fresh air.The first time I went ther I did not want to go back home.MEH BLOOD GET SWEET!!!!!!!!!
i was in barbados 2 months ago if trinidads anything like barbados then the food is fairly exspensive alcohol very cheep i liked banks beer but as it so hot out there i find it starts to go off if you dont drink it quick enough.
Tobago is very nice...the waters are warm and beautiful. It really depends where you end up staying. We rented a room with a kitchenette and we had some meals (simple stuff like sandwiches) at our lodging. The prices are can be very cheap if you test out the local vendors (ask the visiting Trinis for advice, they should be aware of the vendors that are clean). We made the mistake of having lunch at the Hilton...we had club sandwiches and nuggets for the kids...that set us back about $80US. Otherwise, portions are generous so you can get by on 2 meals a day. The beer is really cheap...it usually works back to $1 or 2 US. If you can find a roti shop, have a roti for me!!!
