please, no cut an paste from the govt websit kinda thing .. genuinely interested in what YOU the Trini people might think would be neat to show my wife and make her fall in love with my ancestral home!

thanks!!

Travel Tips
Well if you're a Trini what do YOU like about it? And what does your WIFE like? The immediate answer might be take her to the beach, but suppose she doh like sun? Take her paranging? Suppose she doh like noise.

I think what go make her fall in love the most is how your family here embraces her and treats her. You should know the focal point of being Trini is the lime, and you could lime anywhere and any time.

I always watch these "what must I do in Trinidad" kinda questions and you know to be honest, I doh know. And I living here all my life. Cause we just aren't about tourism. Unless you talking Tobago.

But for the foreigners who we have hosted in Trinidad, the biggest impact on them is that when they come they are not treated as TOURISTS. They're treated like GUESTS.

There is a difference. One that people whose concept of the Caribbean is sipping drinks on the beach under an umbrella will never understand.

That said, expose her to all the different types of food, if she is gastronomically inclined.

Others
Here's a list of places to consider. I haven't been to all of them but it's just a list to consider. :-) Visiting some of these places will depend on what sort of transport you'll have available to you and whether or not you'll have a resident Trini to take you around. It would be a good idea to call some of these places (where applicable) and find out a bit more about visiting hours etc. From this and your previous questions I'm guessing you didn't grow up here.

1. Asa Wright Nature Centre
2. Caroni Swamp
3. Pitch Lake
4. Top of the Mount / Mt St Benedict (nice view, small art gallery)
5. Fort George (nice view, scary-steep-curvy road, lonely - potential bandit area so get some more info and go with a group)
6. There supposed to be a military museum in the West.
7. I saw on TV today that there's an East Indian Cultural museum near the Temple in the Sea.
8. I think PTSC (bus service) has or had a 'Know Your Country Tour'. Call them for info.
9. Check with the tourist board when you get here - you might get some good ideas from them
10. San'do Hill
11. Botanical gardens (another potentially lonely place - go with friends - safety in numbers)
12. Magnificent 7 around the Savannah ... you can't go in put if you're in the area you can drive by and admire them if you're into architecture.
13. Angostura has a factory tour if you're interested in their history or if you run out of things to do. :-)

If I think of more stuff I'll come back and edit my answer.

Have a good trip.
This answers ur previous question about the crime, for some reason, i can't seem to answer it without getting an error message.
Trini is a beautiful country. I know bcuz i am a trini, i moved to the states 2 and 1/2 yrs ago and i'm still incredibly homesick.
yes some ppl are trying to ruin the country with the crime, and yes other ppl are trying to downtalk it to make u feel like it's a warzone back there.
honestly, when i visit my country, i don't feel in anyway unsecure when i walk the streets. the majority of the ppl still are still what the country is originally made off, warm ppl, togetherness, vibrance and incredible hospitality.
Now i'm not gonna lie and say u can just walk around with ur gold chains and expensive accessories and expect to be ok. Just don't go there, expecting to be gunned down or something cuz it will cause u to act like a foreigner and someone may take advantage of that.
It's pretty easy to blend in to trini ppl bcuz we have such a mixed and undefined culture. so all in all, u should be fine.
Forget those people who r tryin to make the only paradise on earth look like a warzone.
