Officially begins on Boxing Day... the Carnival season that is.
It kicks of with Boxing Nite fetes and then everything is in full swing from then till the two days of revelry which is most times during February but for the latest early March!

From the beginning of January to Ash Wednesday (the day after Carnival Tuesday). Carnival costumes goes on sale from about October, you have to check their website.

Carnival is a "floating" festival, the two days before Ash Wednesday. This year it was on Feb 19 and 20th.

The good news is you have LOTS of time to plan for next year. So for Carnival 2008 you and me will get together and lime on Feb 4 and Feb 5, 2008. Thank you for making me check. I realize that it will be my 3rd consecutive year missing my husband's birthday (for you see he will be home minding the children.)

Carnival is always the Monday and Tuesday before Ash Wednesday as it is in all countries whose Carnival origins are based in the traditional pre-Lenten celebrations of many pre-dominantly catholic countries.

So you missed it this year, and next year Carnival is in early February.
