i found a turkey coin. and it says its 500 liras. on the front it says turkiye cumhuriyeti. anybody know how much its worth in U.S dollars?... if it is even worth anything!!

The Turkish 500 lira coin is made of alluminium bronze alloy, and minted from 1989 to 1997. But unfortunately the high inflation rate that hit Turkey in the 1990s up to the turn of millennium had forced the country to changed its coin series and introduced higher denomination pieces a few times, thus making the 500 lira coin obsolete and worthless then. However, obsolete coins are still being actively traded in the numismatic community, with hobbyists and dealers alike trading these coins in the $0.10 to $0.25 value range. Turkey has, since January 1st 2005 been using the new currency unit called the "New Turkish Lira".

500 turkish lira is very small money...if this new turkish lira.this equal 373 dolar ...but this is new turkish lira ..ok....i hope this help to you....
