Do I need a visa before I fly to Turkey or can I get it once landed? |
Travel Info I have a US passpoort and once in Turkey I need a Transit Visa. I think I read somewhere I can get a Visa upon arriving to Turkey at their airport. Is this true? Travel Tips You can get it when you land. I don't know how much it is because they change it from time to time but here is what you need to do... when you get to the airport and you see that you are about to go into the line to have your passport stamped look to the left of the line and you will see some windows that look like bank teller windows, get in line there and pay for your visa. If they give you the sticker there (or stick it into your passport) then you can go into the passport control lines and you can get your visa sticker stamped and you can then enter into Turkey. But if they only give you a receipt at the bank teller looking line then you have to go to the desk on the wall to the right of the bank teller looking windows. The person at this desk will give you a visa sticker when you show him your receipt, then you can get into the passport control lines. Good luck. You will see exactly what I am talking about when you get close to passport control. Others Best check with a Turkish consulate or embassy before you go. A wrong answer will be inconvenient. Here is a link to the TURKISH EMBASSY CONSULAR SECTION http://www.turkishembassy.org. There are specific locations in CA, TX, IL, & NY....if you're from one of those, let me know and I can send you the specific link. If I remember correctly, you can pay at the airport and get your visa there...but I'm not a 100% sure - I'd rather you contact the embassy. That's correct - you buy your visa at the airport, after landing and before you go through passport control and collect your luggage. Follow the sign for 'vize'. The prices for each different country's passport holders are shown on the wall, and you'll need to present the exact change, in note form. You can't pay by credit or debit card, travellers cheque or coins. For the UK, the price is 拢10, I think it's $26 dollars for the US. This is for a single entry visa of up to 3 months. You have to have at least 6 months remaining on your passport. Enjoy your stay in Turkey!! |
