Renting an apartment in Istanbul, turkey? |
Travel Info Hi does anyone know if non-turkish people have to pay a deposit for water / electricity when renting an apartment. (In addition to the usual deposit) the amount of this deposit is supposed to be 鈧?00. Please help me with informed comments becasue I think my mum's getting conned!! Travel Tips No, your landlord/lady is trying to pull a fast one on you. As Irmak said, Turks and foreigners have the same rights and obligations in terms of apartments. You should just have to pay a security deposit for your apartment(as you would anywhere else), plus pay regular bills for your utilities (well, there are installation charges for Digiturk, phone, and ADSL), but I'm guessing you're not moving into a gecekondu, so it's pretty certain that the place is hooked up with water and electricity. Feel free to send me a message if you like. EDIT: Leprechaun, he meant 300 Euros in addition to the security deposit for his flat. That's bogus. Source(s): Foreigner living in Istanbul Other Travel Tips I think payments are the same between non-Turkish and Turkish people. But I don't know it well..Wait for the other answers. I don't know what this deposit includes but 300 Eur sounds fair to me. I'm Turkish living in Istanbul and paid 450 USD as deposit about 2 years ago. And am also paying water/electric/gas/phone bills. It's the common practice. |
