Is Mehmet and Ahmet basically the same name? Or are they completely different? |
Travel Info Is Mehmet and Ahmet basically the same name? Or are they completely different? Travel Tips They are both short forms of Muhammed. Others No,absolutely not. But they have something in comman. Mehmet is the Turkish way of the name "Muhammed" . And Ahmet is another name of the prophet(Muhammed). # Mustafa, do you know how to read Arabic? I do only a bit, and i think Mehmed/Muhammed/Mahmud may written the same but not Ahmed i suppose. Or am i completely wrong? they are fraternal twins They are basically the same. In Arabic alphabet there are no vowels, just consonants. Therefor aHMeD, MeHMed, MaHMud, MuHaMMeD are all the same. Hi Seashells Ipek is right in her answer. They are of the same derivation much like John & Ian in Europe. Hope this helps They are 2 different names, but both are very common....like Mike and Joe Pretty much like John and Jack, or Robert and Bob :) |
