Did the country of Turkey ever use a currency called the Pound? |
Travel Info Turkey uses the Lira currently, and if accepted into the European Union - will use the Euro as its currency, but I am almost certain that they used the Turkish Pound - some years ago. The site refers to Lebanese and Syrian pounds while there were nothing called Pounds in Lebanon and Syria, they use the Lira. It seems they are using the term pounds denoting the currency whatever it may be its name, for example may be saying American pound referring to the dollar.
