Catholic Church in Istanbul? |
Travel Info I visited a catholic Church in Istanbul which I think was near Taksim, set back form the shops, if I've got this right does anyone know this church and what its called? Thanks Travel Tips hello! I live in istanbul, yes we have Catolic Churche in istanbul . name of this Catholic Churche is "St Anthony of Padua" it is in Taksim Square on the Istiklal Street. I am muslim but sometimes I am visiting this curhch:) we are rich with mix-culture and mix-religional people:) freedom of religion:) I think its great:) This is a one more reason why I like my country. you can check this website: http://www.mymerhaba.com/en/main/content... p.s. we have lotsa churces in Turkey. in istanbul, izmir, bodrum, and etc. I hope I can help you:) Source(s): :) Other Travel Tips I would try looking it up on wikipedia, there are very few Catholic churches in Istanbul - most churches there are Greek Orthodox so a Catholic one would be notable. Was it this one? (The first on the list, with an illustration!) http://www.mymerhaba.com/en/main/content... It is Saint Anthony church commonly known as St.Antoin (as said in French) God bless you Saint Antony church.THIS IS SURE.SEARCH ALSO IN BOOKS AND YOU WILL CONFIRM IT It's called St. Antoine. It's on Istiklal Caddesi, a pedestrian avenue heading down from Taksim. If you're headed there with a cab, ask to be dropped off by Galatasaray Lisesi, which is on a cross street with Istiklal. They have Mass in English, Italian, Turkish and Polish. |
