How is the crime rate in Turks & Caicos islands, Mainly Providenciales? |
Travel Info How is the crime rate in Turks & Caicos islands, Mainly Providenciales? Travel Tips It depends which part of the Island one is talking about. I know people who are constantly being burgled, but they live at some distance from the tourist resorts (areas like Bluehills and Five Cays). It is prudent not to wander about on foot at night except in the touristy areas where there are other people about, as there are opportunistic robbers at large and there have been quite a few robberies recently and even the odd shooting. (I don't feel that I am being unduly negative here, as these things have been widely reported in the press over the past year or two) However, compared to many islands in this part of the world it is pretty safe and these incidents tend not to have any impact upon tourists, hence the very positive replies from other answerers. I realise that you are thinking of coming to live in Provo. You will probably be best advised to choose a home in a resort, rather than a lonely house with a romantic view. Take careful advice over flooding risks when hurricanes hit the island (inevitable from time to time). Don't buy anywhere built on a drained marsh. |
