Why do I post a not travel related question?

Travel Info
Well, I do that for a purpose. Latley (not for the first time) I realize a lot of questions like: where to find a girl friend, where to get a massage and many more questions regarding prostitution or illicit relationships are going on in this section. That's why.

Question: what is wrong withs some guys? Do they not know they live in a Muslim country? Do they just do not care? Do they just value the rules back home but not here?

When a woman (no matter what nationality) do not care about dressed decent, does that mean that men just have to forget where they are coming from and what their values are?

A woman was sunbathing topless at a beach in Dubai. Did men call the police? NO. It was a woman being offended!

I do admit that prostitution is going on in the UAE . But if men would not ask for it, it would not exisist.

Right or wrong?

Travel Tips
I think that you are correct in not answering things that you are uncomfortable with. Also you are right, why do men come to the travel section to get a date, etc?

Part of the problem is the reputation of the Gulf countries is that of rife prostitution, whether we like it or not. And I have to say the truth that I have only seen more prostitution in Thailand and am shocked at the huge numbers that exist here. In the West there are far fewer prostitutes and they tend to be pretty worn out looking drug-addicted types with the exeception of a few and they are only easy to spot if you are actively looking for them in a bad section of a city. They are not packed in nightclubs and restaurants at home like here. Here they also tend to be young, attractive, Asian and Eastern European ladies. I also agree that if people did not use prosititues they would not exist. That said a government has to be actively involved in protecting the society from this evil.

I am not a Muslim and I am a Westerner. Living here in the UAE, I too was offended that a British tourist decided that it was okay not to wear her bikini top on the beach in Dubai because she couldn't find it. We also have the same problem in my state of Florida in which public beaches do not allow nudism but some European tourists are always flouting the law. Yes, it is disgusting that some tourists come to a country and don't even bother with having any respect for the culture of the country they are visiting. I however think that we have to inform them. A reminder in the form of a brochure could be put in hotels to inform about local customs and laws.

It is also sad when it is Ramadan and I see young women wearing shorts and miniskirts around the city. Many of them aren't tourists, but are ex-pat residents and even some are coming from Muslim countries, like Morocco and Lebanon. I have even seen see-through pants, shirts and skirts in the malls. I don't know what we can do about people that don't have respect for themselves or others. I think this will always be a problem.
Others
For better or worse, the internet is going to encourage a common culture. Traditional cultures, framed by modesty (too often an excuse for the subjection of women) will likely be offended by the more liberal (or grossly indecent!) material available on the 'net.

All I can advise is, if it offend you, don't click on it.
As a family man and one strongly believing in family values I am against prostitution, but as there are men and men, people low on self esteem will always look for something. Let us not forget there are also male prostitutes and same things apply for women. Only thing you can really do is try your best in your own environment, just like your effort here. I know this is not much of a comfort, but in my experience good examples are slow but efficient way.
Bravo H. I was supposed to raise the same question here. I do not understand why these guys are asking this type of stupid questions under the travel category. I believe the intention of most of the questioners here are seeking advice on travel and visa related issues.

The only thing now we can able to do is report yahoo team to remove these questions. I am trying my best to do this always.

Regards,
Zain
hiya H..i've been following this section lately and you and zain are doing a great job..kudos to both..yea..i believe in respecting the culture and the people who are from the land. i shall be travelling to dubai in a couple of months and primarily i too feel that the land has to be respected for the values it holds.true with a lot of urbanisation and globalisation, we need to stick on to the values which are the grass roots of our culture..
i know what you mean (h) but... i really dont understand the first part of your question ! i mean you arent the first one who doesnt post a none travel related question many are asking about other subjects like trading , certificates, roads , ways , lifestyle ALL about UAE in general , some questions about survey and some about royal families ... and many many other question that doesn't relate to TRAVEL .

so dear you arent the only one whom doesnt talk about travel BUT the reasons are different i guess... if you know what i mean

And i also want to answer your last question which is : "I do admit that prostitution is going on in the UAE . But if men would not ask for it, it would not exisist.

Right or wrong?"

first of all saying that "prostitution is going on in the UAE" isnt good , even though that you dont mean a direct or undirect insult you still made one, a non purposed one ...

weather its true or not i believe that this question isnt a good one ...

i know you are a person who dosent mind critisism .

have a good day bye
Sorry I disagree h.

It may be a disgusting that men are here trolling for hookers but it is a fact of life. If men did not ask for it, then prostitution would not be the oldest profession in the world.

Being a Muslim country has nothing to do with anything. Muslim rules do not necessarily apply to non-Muslims. Any non-Muslim (and I've seen many Muslims too) can go to a bar and down some beers no problem. Eat or smoke during Ramadan? Fine... Because non-Muslims live here doesn't mean they have to live by the Muslim code.

By opening up the country to let in Western businesses, tourists, investment, etc. hand-in-hand you also let in Western values maybe at the expense of the existing values. Want the old values back again? Kick everyone out (along with their money) and pull the old camel out of the garage.

Y!A can't and won't remove these posts because the posts aren't breaking any rules. By removing posts, it would be censorship. Maybe that's part and parcel of what the government's normal procedure, but Yahoo won't do it.

The only way to stamp out prostitution is for the authorities to make the penalties stiff for both the ladies and customers. Imagine if the penalties were similar to drug offenses penalties. Watch how quickly it goes away.
